Makers & Mothers: What Mother Made
Makers & Mothers celebrates the creators behind the clothes, & the mothers behind the brands. In this section I’m really excited to explore some of my favourite kid’s brands built by mothers, focusing on their unique journeys, the stories woven into their products, and what style means for them and their families.
I can’t wait to share the first interview from one of my favourite children’s brands coming up in the next few weeks, but in the meantime I came across a really beautiful store in Lauriston Village at the weekend run by a Hackney mum of three. What Mother Made is a “handmade Adult & Children’s wear label that blends classic traditional shapes with cool, locally sourced fabrics and contrast prints.”
Clothes are made for adults and children aged 0 - 8 years, and the team cut, sew and piece together items from their studio in Hackney. I can’t go to Victoria Park without sneaking off to Gail’s in Lauriston Village (it’s Christmas bun season) and this store now gives me even more reason to head in that direction. You can find What Mother Made online and on Instagram.
