Makers & Mothers: Dunja Opalko
Makers & Mothers celebrates the creators behind the clothes, & the mothers behind the brands. This may be a newsletter about tiny threads, but I’m really interested in how motherhood affects every aspect of our lives, and in particular our creativity (not least because I struggled to find mine for a while after becoming a mother). So in this section I’m really excited to explore some of my favourite kids brands built by mothers, focusing on their unique journeys, the stories woven into their products, and what style means for them and their families. Stories to follow soon, but in the meantime I wanted to share a brilliant project from freelance Photographer Dunja Opalko.
Dunja’s series of portraits titled ‘Creative Mothers’ “looks to both celebrate mothers in the creative industries and gently highlight the difficulties of juggling a career you're passionate about with the realities of parenthood.” The result is a really beautiful collection of images and comments.
“This project is about hearing and sharing their stories and creating a community of like-minded women, uniting us Creative Mothers for all that we have in common - the unconditional love towards our children as well as our profession.” You can see more of Dunja’s work below.
